A lot of us have to work on New years eve during the day. I have come up with a super simple way to take your daytime work look to a sparkly New Years Eve worthy look in 5 simple steps using only 5 products in under 5 minutes!
I woke up in the morning looking like a mack truck hit me in the face. Even though it is slightly embarassing to post a pic of me without makeup, it is a necessary part of showing you all the power of makeup, so here it is...
I decided to do a very simple daytime look that can be achieved in under 15 minutes and with minimal products. I also used a few drugstore items that I love, more about that later. Here is the daytime look:
To get this look:
Apply BB cream all over face with fingers: I used Garnier Skin renew BB cream for combo/oily skin in Light/medium (great drugstore find and a great alternative to foundation)
Using fingers pat concealer on undereyes and any areas of redness like around the nose: I used MAC studio finish concealer NC20
You can set with a powder if you wish (I do as I am on the oilier side but this step is optional)
Apply Urban Decay primer potion to entire eye area (again an optional step)
Fill in brows: I use maybelline Define-a-brow in medium browm
Using a MAC 230 brush pack Illamasqua pure pigment in Furore onto the lid and on lower lash line (you could also use MAC pigment in vanilla or any other light pigment or eyeshadow e.g. MAC "shroom" or a cheaper option cover girl "champagne" but pigments will give a little more punch and shimmer)
Contour the crease using a Quo crease brush and MAC espresso eyeshadow using windshield wiper motions until well blended in the crease only
Highlight browbone using MAC shroom (could use cover girl "champagne")
Curl lashes and apply at least 2 coats of black mascara: I used Maybelline "the falsies"
Apply blush to apples of the cheeks: I used Lancome Blush Subtil in Coral Chic
Apply MAC lipliner in subculture and MAC lipstick in angel (could use Revlon colourstay ultimate suede lipstick in "socialite" which is longwearing and a great neutral colour)
This pic is the exact same look but with the revlon lipstick insead of MAC. This lipstick is great because once dry it is trasfer proof and lasts ALL DAY!! You can apply lip balm once the lipstick dries if needed.
Okay so I promised you a nighttime look for a special night like New Years Eve, so I thought a little sparkle might be nice...unfortunately the pictures don't do the sparkle justice, your lids will be golden and super sparkly so try this it really does look beautiful under evening lighting.
The great thing about this look is that once you have done the day look it only takes another 5 steps and 5 products to achieve the nighttime look and can be applied in about 5 minutes!
So all I did was apply glitter glue (I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance glitter glue) to the lid and pack on Makeup Forever glitter in #3 over the glue using my MAC 230 brush
Apply a set of false eyelashes using Duo glue and Ardell 116's (I love Ardell 116's they have a clear band making them pretty natural looking if you aren't wearing eyeliner)
Outine lips with Cherry lipliner by MAC and fill in lips with MAC Russian Red (My fave red)
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014
